What’s more tempting on a hot summer day than a deliciously refreshing, icy slushie? I would say that this healthier take is definitely even more tempting! A conventional slushie is all ice and sugar syrup, and all that sugar is actually dehydrating and devoid of any nutrients. With two minutes, a blender, and just a few ingredients, you can make your own that are delicious and so much better for you! They will replenish your electrolytes and give you a natural vitamin C boost. Now go juice some lemons!
These are quite tart. You can start with this recipe and add a little more sweetener if you need it. We’ve used maple syrup, as it’s a less processed sweetener, and local to boot, but coconut nectar is a great low-glycemic alternative, or a little raw honey, which is antibacterial!
The only question is: which of the two flavours to try first?!
Coco-Lime Slushie
- 1 cup coconut water ice cubes
- ½ cup lime juice (about 3 limes)
- Pinch of sea salt
- 2 Tbsp maple syrup
Raspberry Lemon Slushie
- 1 c frozen raspberries
- 1 c coconut water ice cubes
- ½ c lemon juice
- ½ c coconut water
- Pinch of sea salt
- 2 Tbsp maple syrup
Blend all ingredients in a high powered blender just enough to maintain the icy texture.
Enjoy!
